How I Celebrated the New Year of 2022
At new years’ eve, people tend to hang out with their friends to celebrate the upcoming new year. They might count down at the Taipei 101 or watch fireworks at the pier of Kaoshiung. In the end of 2021, I planned a trip with my boyfriend to visit Wan Pi World Safari Zoo in Tainan. We also did other activities such as watching Spiderman: No Way Home at the cinema, eating Sukiyaki at the mall, and counting down together by watching television at home.
The first stop of our trip was Wan Pi World, it is a zoo located in the Syueja District of Tainan. We took a train from Chiayi station in the morning and arrived at Shinying District of Tainan. We thought that there would be plenty of stores around the train station, however, there are none, so we had to eat at a convenient store. Then, we took a bus that took us to the zoo, which took about an hour to arrive at our destination.
There were various animals in the Wan Pi World, and one of my favorite is the capybara. Capybaras are a kind of rodent, which means that they are relatives of rats. The capybaras in the zoo seem to have such a cozy and free life that all they do is sleep and eat. They are the largest rodents on Earth and they get along well with other animals, you could often see them being kept with other species in the zoo. You could also make an appointment for 200 NTD for an experience of feeding them and taking pictures with them. There are also crocodiles, giraffes, penguins, kangaroos, and other farm animals that are worth seeing.
After visiting the zoo, we decided to watch a movie. One of the most popular movie at the time was Spiderman: No Way Home, so of course we had to watch it. The movie was amazing and the cast truly surprised me, because my favorite actor of the Spiderman series appeared in the movie. With extraordinary CGI and fighting scenes, I could clearly see why the public gave it such a high rating.
Then, we got hungry and went to a Sukiyaki restaurant. Sukiyaki is a kind of Japanese dish that consist of meat and vegetables which is cooked in a shallow iron pot in soy sauce, sugar, and mirin. It was an all-you-can-eat restaurant, which means we could eat as much as we want. And after eating as much meat as I could consume, we headed home for the new years’ countdown. Because of the low temperature outdoors, staying inside to watch the new year program on television was the best option for us. We counted down with the hosts on TV and watched other students’ set fireworks nearby our school.
Overall, the last day of 2021 was a wonderful and memorable day for me. I enjoyed every activity we’ve done and had a great time together as we said our goodbyes to the year.
It is definitely a great experience to celebrate the coming new year with people you love. The crocodile in the photo looks so cute! I think it is absolutely a wonderful option to stay inside with delicious hot pot while it is freezing outside. I hope it won't be too late to wish you good luck in 2022!
I also love capybara 😍 If you have time, maybe you can go to Yilan's 張美阿嬤農場, there are soooooo many capybara, and I even had seen two fo them running in the farm! (they are too chill to make me believe they can run so fast😆)
It's a wonderful celebration of New Year! I would like to go to Wan Pi World in the future! I am so excited to get that close to capybara!😍 Celebrating holidays with our family is always best thing of a year!
