Benefits
1. How do you think your English writing skills have improved after completing this Wix e-portfolio? (You can talk about your improvement in these aspects: vocabulary, grammar, writing skills, motivation and confidence in writing, and interaction with peers.
A: I think that multiple writing opportunities has made me improved in writing in different kinds of styles. I have learned a lot about how to write better and more interestingly. In addition, with the practice of peer review, I could see how others would write differently under the same topic and learn from them. And I was motivated to write better because other people might read my writings.
2. What do you think about creating the Wix e-portfolio for the final essay drafts?
A: I think that it gives me a sense of accomplishment every time I upload my final drafts. All the writings are published after going through the process of outline, first, second, and final draft, so it takes a lot of work to complete one essay. To be able to finally upload the writings is very rewarding to me.
3. What do you think about creating the Wix e-portfolio for journal writing and commenting?
A: Journal writing gives me a chance to share my life experience and other interesting stories to other people. I would try to write in a more interesting way and think of good titles in order to please my readers, and it has also motivated me to write better. Reading the comments that others left is really fun and it also allows me to reflect on my writings.
4. Do you think that journal writing should be conducted in the same way as essay writing (i.e., Draft 1, peer review, Draft 2, conferencing, and Draft 3 on Wix)? Why or why not?
A: I think that journal writing should stay the same way as it is. Because journals should be written in a more informal way, and the topics are free to the writers. It is not necessary to go through the same process as academic essay writings since it is a more “relaxed” way of writing.
5. What did you benefit from TA feedback after you posted each final essay draft and journal on your Wix e-portfolio? (TA feedback was presented via Excel file and PPT slides).
A: I could clearly understand what should be improved and fix the errors.
6. What did you benefit from conducting self-assessment and peer-assessment of the Wix e-portfolio in the second semester?
A: It gave me a chance to check if there are any error on my webpage, and by peer-assessment they could check it for me again and give me advices on where I could improve on my page.
7. How did this Wix e-portfolio enhance your skills other than writing?
A: I think it gave me a sense of accomplishment and boosted my confidence in writing. It also gave me a “voice” to share my thoughts and chance to connect with people that read my writings.
8. Overall, what did you benefit from creating and managing this Wix e-portfolio? How is it different from uploading your assignments on ecourse2?
A: As I said above, creating and managing my own Wix page has brought various benefits to me. Not only did I improved in my writing skills, it has also brought benefits in other aspects. Different from uploading them to ecourse2, I could share and easily manage all my writings on Wix, and get feedbacks from the readers. Other than this, uploading the assignments on Wix would also motivate me to write better.
Challenges
1. What difficulties have you encountered in terms of creating and editing your Wix e-portfolio over these two semesters?
A. Some of the difficulties I have ran in was on creating blog pages and uploading my works. But that was because I have never created webpages before this, after some time it was easy for me to figure out and overcome these technical issues.
2. Among all the difficulties mentioned above, what was the most challenging one? How did you handle this challenge?
A: For me the most challenging one was creating blog pages. Because I used a blog template on Wix, so it took me some time to figure out how to upload my works to fit the template. I had problems connecting the pages to the menu list, but I figured it out by learning about how the website works on my own.
3. Will you continue to use or write posts on this Wix e-portfolio in the future? Why or why not?
A: I think that it is hard to answer right now, but maybe I won’t write on my page in the near future. Because I have no spare time to write and manage my website now, but I would like to write journals to record and share parts of my life in the future if I have a chance.
